FAQS

What is the difference between ‘temperature controlled’ & ‘temperature display’ boxes?

A temperature display box does just that. It is fitted with a heat element and displays the temperature/humidity in the box however is not controllable.

A temperature-controlled box, however, is fitted with a heat element which switches off once it has reached the set temperature.

Why we now use infrared heating?

Some of our advanced boxes are fitted with infrared heat elements. This plays a small part in a better drying process. Infrared is the closest heat source to replicate the sun and as traditionally meat would have been dried by the sun, we make a box as close to drying tradition as we can.

What wood do we use to make our boxes?

All boxes are made from solid pine however you can choose your preferred wood colour effect when checking out. Please see the options available on each listing.

Are our boxes for drying meat only?

The answer to this question is absolutely NOT. These boxes can be used to dehydrate or cure a whole variety of food types including meat, vegetables, fruits and even herbs and spices.

Remember!

**Please note if you are making biltong to sell to members of the public the council requires you to use a stainless steel dryer for health and hygiene purposes!**
