FAQ’S

What is the difference between ‘Temperature Controlled’ & ‘Temperature Display’ Boxes?

A temperature display box does just that. It is fitted with a ceramic infrared heat element and ‘displays’ the temperature of the box.

A temperature-controlled box, however, is fitted with a ceramic infrared heat element which switches off once it has reached the set temperature.

Why we now use infrared heating?

Infrared plays a small part in a better drying process. Infrared is the closest heat source to replicate the sun and as traditionally meat would have been dried by the sun, we make a box as close to drying tradition as we can.

What Is The Difference Between Pine Or Oak Effect?

All boxes are made from solid pine wood. The pine is left natural in its original state if you choose the pine option. An oak-effect box is where we darken the natural light pine to give it the look of oak. We also offer a whitewash effect or teak effect. These boxes are not veneered.

Are Biltong Boxes For Drying Meat Only?

The answer to this question is absolutely NOT. These boxes can be used to dehydrate or cure a whole variety of things including meat, vegetables, fruits and even herbs and spices.

Remember!

**Please note if you are making biltong to sell to members of the public the Council requires you to use a stainless steel dryer for health and hygiene purposes!**
